Cuba Calls for New Initiatives to Face World Crisis

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 22 (acn) Cuba called for new methods, initiatives and proposals to face the current international economic order, based on larger cooperation and solidarity among Latin American nations.

Amidst an unstable and troubled international scenario, it is fair to say that our region keeps consolidating unity and integration efforts, said Cuba's first deputy minister of Foreign Trade, Antonio Carricarte.

The Cuban official spoke at the 17th Meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council of the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI), which elected Argentinean Carlos Chacho as general secretary.

Carricarte stressed the need to appropriately address differences in the region through a special and differentiated attention. He recalled that the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) opened the opportunity for regional integration groups and blocs to work on common agendas.

CELAC is a proof that a united region can find a solution to the problems and meet the aspirations of Latin American countries, the Cuban official pointed out.
